The new desktop arcade controller is almost done.
I designed it after the Pelican Real Arcade controller. Similar shape, but scaled up. It is made of Oak Plywood on top, and a poplar box with 1/4" MDF bottom. The Joysticks and buttons are all reclaimed parts that were doomed to the dumpster and cleaned up. The encoder for this project ist he GPWiz gamepad encoder from Groovy Game Gear.

I'll be working on a review for Retroblast after assemply and testing.

Hello Jeff.

I hope this message reaches you well.

I am building a MAME system. Like you, I am using the GGG GPWiz USP encoder. I have successfully wired up the p1 Joystick and six buttons. I cannot figure out how to wire the p2 JS and buttons. Additionally I have Player 1 and 2 buttons and 2 coin buttons. I Have 4 additional buttons for some reason I thought they might be helpful. Would you mind sharing with me any info on how I should wire up this p2 stuff and other buttons if you can.

I also have installed a trackball and spinner with 2 button that these devices share and for that I am using a GGG Opti? USB. Still trying to figure this out too.

Thanks in advance!
Brian

Hey Hero Zero--that is a great name for an arcade machine.

I am still not finished with that panel--i moved last year and have only just now started thinking about finishing up a conversion project for an old generic cab.

Anyway--the GGG GPWiz is great. I used it in the GAMER project you see on jeffy's arcade. What we did was this:

1. Hook up everything to the gp wiz.
2. Run KeyThis (a very hand program to view keypresses)
3. Open Mame and under the Tab Menu select default controls for all mame games and reset all the mame defaults to what ever you happen to have wired the GPWiz to. Check you docuementation, and don't hesitate to contact Randy at GGG with questions--he is the Man to go to!
